Somberi Chicken Biryani
Easiest, spiciest, yummiest biryani done in 1 hour.
Ingredients (16)
- ยทpieces onions
- ยทoil
- ยทlarge tomato
- ยทpieces green chillies
- ยทtsp ginger garlic paste
- ยทgms chicken
- ยทcup curd
- ยทtsp chilli paste
- ยทmint leaves
- ยทcoriander leaves
- ยทtsp turmeric
- ยทtsp chilli powder
- ยทtsp biryani masala
- ยทpiece lemon juice
- ยทbasmati rice
- ยทtsp ghee

Fry 2 onions in oil until brown.

Add 1 large tomato, 5 slitted green chillies, and 2 tsp ginger garlic paste.

Add 750 gms chicken, 1/4 cup curd, 2 tsp chilli paste, handful of chopped mint and coriander leaves, 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp chilli powder, and 1 tsp biryani masala.

Marinate everything for 20 minutes.

In a pan, use the oil from frying onions to fry the marinated chicken for 5 minutes.

Cover and cook on medium flame for 10 minutes.

Add water in a 1:2 ratio for basmati rice (soaked for 1/2 hour). If using a pressure cooker, add water in a 1:1.5 ratio.

Close the lid and cook on medium flame for 6 to 7 minutes.

Open and mix the rice gently, add 2 tsp ghee, and close the lid.

Place the biryani pot on an unused old dosa tawa on low flame for 25 minutes.
