A traditional curry made with pumpkin and various vegetables, perfect for festivals and rituals.

Cut the tender, fresh pumpkin into equal-sized pieces.

Add the pumpkin pieces to a pressure cooker along with brinjal, cluster beans, tomato, drumstick, yam, onion, and green chillies.

Pour about 1 litre of water into the cooker.

Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric, jaggery, and tamarind pulp.

Mix everything well, close the lid, and cook for just one whistle.

Mix 2 spoons of gram flour (besan) with water and add it to the curry to thicken it.

Prepare a tempering with dry red chillies, garlic, mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, asafoetida, and curry leaves.

Pour the tempering over the curry.

Serve hot with steaming rice and a side of plain mudda pappu (thick dal), and a green chilli on the side.
