A delicious homemade version of the popular Korean dish tteok-bokki, featuring chewy rice cakes in a spicy sauce.
Ingredients (10)
- ยทcup glutinous rice flour
- ยทcup hot water
- ยทsalt
- ยทsesame oil
- ยทtbsp gochujang
- ยทtbsp soy sauce
- ยทtsp brown sugar
- ยทtbsp gochugaru
- ยทsesame seeds
- ยทgreen onions

Mix glutinous rice flour, hot water, and a pinch of salt roughly until the temperature is manageable.

Knead with hands into a smooth soft dough.

Spread sesame oil on a surface.

Roll the dough into logs.

Cut them and add to boiling water to boil for 3 minutes or until they float to the top.

Transfer to ice cold water.

In a separate pot, combine boiling water, gochujang, soy sauce, brown sugar, and gochugaru.

Simmer for a couple of minutes until the sauce is thick.

Add the rice cakes and cook for 2 more minutes before serving with sesame seeds and green onions.
