- ยทDry red chillies

Boil the toor dal with turmeric powder, asafoetida, chopped onion, slit green chillies, chopped tomatoes, and water until cooked.

Add oil and potato or other vegetables as needed to the boiled dal.

For making sambar, add salt, tamarind water, homemade sambar powder, and jaggery to the cooked dal mixture.

For tempering, heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, peeled shallots, dry red chillies, and curry leaves until fragrant.

Pour the tempering over the sambar and garnish with coriander leaves.
