Deep Dish Pizza
A delicious deep dish pizza filled with Italian sausage and three types of cheese.
Ingredients (15)

- ·cup cornmeal
- ·tsp salt
- ·tsp sugar
- ·tbsp active dry yeast
- ·cup warm water
- ·tbsp olive oil
- ·lb Italian sausage
- ·cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ·cup ricotta cheese
- ·cup Parmesan cheese
- ·cup marinara or pizza sauce
- ·tbsp fresh basil
- ·tsp red pepper flakes
- ·salt and pepper

In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, and sugar.

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Add the olive oil to the yeast mixture and stir into the dry ingredients.

Knead the dough for about 10 minutes, then let it rise in a greased bowl, covered, for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon until browned. Drain excess fat and set aside.

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

Roll out the dough and press it into a deep dish pizza pan.

Add a layer of mozzarella cheese on the bottom, then top with ricotta cheese.

Add the cooked sausage and spoon marinara sauce over the top.

Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil. For an extra kick, sprinkle with red pepper flakes.
